Business cards still get handed out at counters, job sites, and networking events. A QR code on the card lets someone save your details or open your booking page without typing a long URL on a small screen.

This guide covers what to link to, where to place the code, and how to keep it scannable on standard card stock.

What should the QR code open?

Pick one primary action per card:

  • A mobile-friendly landing page with your services and phone number
  • A booking or quote form
  • A Google review link (after a good job, not on first contact)
  • A vCard download so they can save you as a contact

Avoid linking to your homepage if it is cluttered. A single-purpose page converts better from a quick scan.

Size and placement

Standard business cards are 85 × 55 mm. Print the QR code at least 15 mm square on matte or uncoated stock. Glossy lamination can cause glare, so test a proof before a full run.

Common placements that work:

  • Back of the card, centred or bottom-right
  • Front, beside your phone number, with a short line like "Scan to book"

Leave a clear margin around the code. See QR code print tips for quiet-zone rules.

Static vs tracked links

A static QR encodes your URL directly. Simple, but you cannot change the destination or count scans.

A tracked link redirects through a short URL you control. You can swap the landing page later and see how many people scanned after an event or job fair. If you hand out cards regularly, that count helps you decide whether networking is worth the print cost. flyerfly supports tracked QR links on business card layouts.

Before you print

  1. Scan the proof with iPhone and Android in indoor light.
  2. Keep contrast high (dark code on light background).
  3. Add one call to action so people know why to scan.
